Thinking Man

Thinking Man is a funny little installation made by local artist, inventor and maker Bage. It appeared one night on The Plot’s colorful fence (who can even say when?) and has stayed put through multiple fence painting projects. Only years after it showed up, did the NEON District crew find out who was responsible.

Comprised of three geodesic domes clad in mirrored and dichroic glass, this site-specific work by Robin M. Rogers hangs in the atrium of the Hurrah Players’ TV & Film Academy. Untitled [Glass Wheel Mural]

This 3-story mural, by internationally known painter Alex Brewer, also known as HENSE, covers the facade of Glass Wheel Studio. His style marries the quick, gestural brushstrokes of graffiti and abstract painting. He is best known for his dynamic, vivid and colorful abstract paintings and monumental wall pieces.

Neoning

In 2015, local artist Joan Biddle led teams of volunteers to paint colorful accents like triangles, rugs and fences on streets and sidewalks in the NEON District as a wayfinding path for visitors.

Cementiscope

Artist collective Glassitorium’s Public Art Commission lives on site at The Plot as a large interactive sculpture that combines elements of a cement mixer and kaleidoscope, encouraging play and discovery. We Can Create What We Can Imagine

New York painter Esteban del Valle and glass artist Julia Rogers collaborated on this mural celebrating artistic creativity and inspiration with LED lights recreating a marquee, a lighthouse and a night sky.

Space Explorations

Commissioned by former furniture store Exotic Home, muralist John Hickey painted the shop’s north wall with vibrant designs and then in 2015 glass artist James Akers added playful space-themed neon creations to the mural.

Call For Artists

Hundreds of artists have passed through NEON walls over the years. Big or small, international or your next door neighbor, high school student or college professor - artists of all kinds and skill levels are welcome to contribute to the NEON District's public art collection.
