NEON Holiday Public Art 2024

THE GOVERNOR’S SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS STUDENTS

2024

Each year, the NEON District collaborates with local artists to create custom holiday décor for display at the Plot. In 2024 a student team from The Governor’s School for the Arts collaborated on design ideas and cooked up the idea of gingerbread people as an inclusive way to show the rich diversity of our community. The artists wanted to celebrate the festive season with a variety of cookie-shaped figures in fun fashions.

The public art class was led by Josh Knibb and the participating students included: Maggie Burt, Sofie Cateternam, Sophia Clemons, Jordan Collins, Taylor Dankyi, Diana Leang, Kamila Mutalova, Su Park, Sadie Pollard, Graecyn Whirley, Banks Brown, Jade Frazier, Brayden Harrell, JP Knight, Audrey Maynard, Autumn Meyers, Vincent Phillips, and Danica Suggs.

The cheerful and colorful designs were on view at the Plot for six weeks of the 2024 holiday season in Downtown Norfolk.
