At the base of the Fusion at NEON apartment building, 13 inset panels were designed as a platform for vibrant, high-impact artworks. Thirteen artists were selected to paint a mural in each panel, taking inspiration from the scientific phenomenon of nuclear fusion, where atoms collide, merge, and transform. The resulting murals are a combination of energy, light and new possibilities, a fusion of old and new, exactly what the NEON District has been striving towards for a decade.
Several walls were designated as showcases for valued NEON community partners, Tidewater Community College, Old Dominion University, Norfolk State University, Chrysler Museum of Art and The Governor’s School for the Arts.
Each artist interpreted the theme in their own unique style, taking literal cues from scientific discovery or reimagining new forms of color and pattern. Discover works of art by:
