Since its earliest days, Black artists have played a vital role in shaping the NEON District. This special tour explores the murals, sculptures, and street art that highlight African American culture and history, from early muralists to Norfolk State University faculty and students. See how these works honor Black voices and experiences, and learn about their lasting impact on the district’s creative identity.
All NEON tours begin at The Plot (Granby St. & Olney Rd.) and are free for all ages. Tours last approximately 60 minutes, rain or shine. Wear comfortable shoes for walking on uneven surfaces. Public parking is available on the street, at The Plot’s lot, and the Harrison Opera House lot.
